Winter Solstice: Slowing Down to Receive

This past week, I was guided to share a meditation on the topic of Releasing Blocks to Receiving and post it to my YouTube channel. The energy work that I share in this meditation is something I have been leaning on in my practice as of late, and I truly hope that it brings healing, clarity and powerful energetic shifts to all who are in need of them.

For many of us, this season naturally turns our attention toward giving and doing. There is genuine joy in offering our time, care, resources, and creations to the people we love. Sharing meals, opening our homes, supporting others — all of this can be deeply nourishing.

And yet, this time of year can also quietly pull us out of balance.

It’s easy to get caught on a hamster wheel of constant giving and doing — whether out of obligation, habit, or tradition — while losing touch with what the season itself is asking of us. The earth is calling us to slow down, to rest, to be still. When we ignore that call, we often end up depleted, even when our hearts are in the right place.

Listening to the Call to Slow Down

This month, I’ve been reflecting on everything I’ve moved through and created in 2025: selling my home, relocating to a new country, creating and holding space for my first six‑month course, working on multiple musical projects, and traveling on a few short tours to support them.

When I look at it honestly, it’s no wonder my body has been asking for more rest and replenishment!

At first, I felt resistance to slowing down. Old patterns surfaced — the impulse to keep producing, to stay busy, to measure worth through output. But over time, I’ve been allowing myself to soften into a different rhythm: doing less in a day, producing less, and letting myself be supported rather than pushing through.

What Happens When We Allow Ourselves to Receive

As I’ve made this shift, I’ve noticed something subtle but powerful unfolding.

As I've done this, I've been noticing some beautiful shifts - people in my local community reaching out and offering help when I least expected it, a deeper awareness in my own self healing space and powerful clearing of energetic blocks. The more I’ve allowed myself to receive nourishment — rest, support, spaciousness — the more naturally it has flowed toward me.

As a recovering workaholic, this has felt both radical and incredibly liberating!

A Solstice Invitation

Winter Solstice marks the longest night of the year — a natural pause point. A moment to turn inward, to reflect, and to honor the quieter wisdom that often gets drowned out by constant activity.

No matter what you’ve accomplished this year, or what still feels unfinished… no matter how long your to‑do list is or how full your days have been… I invite you to take some time this week to be still.

To go inward. To listen.

And to gently ask:

What stands in the way of me receiving just as much — if not more — than I give to the world and to others?

May the energy of this Solstice support you in rest, reflection, and a deeper openness to receive.
